Statement by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore TD
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore, TD, has written to the Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, TD, resigning the office of Tánaiste.
In his letter, Minister Gilmore said doing so would enable the Taoiseach to nominate his successor at the earliest possible time.
He also thanked the Taoiseach for his courtesy and co-operation, saying it had been a privilege and an honour to work with him in the leadership of Government during a very difficult time in the country’s history.
