I welcome the statement issued yesterday by CORI on behalf of the four religious congregations who ran 10 Magdalene homes.
Their publicly expressed willingness to bring "greater clarity, understanding, healing and justice in the interests of all the women involved" relating to their accommodation and treatment in the Magdalene Laundries is an important step forward.
Yesterday's statement along with all of the other information available and reports published to date will form part of the Governments consideration of this important issue when it is discussed in Cabinet."
