Statement from Minister Jimmy Deenihan on the death of Patrick Scott

14th February, 2014 - Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, has expressed his deep sorrow at the death of the renowned artist Patrick Scott, and has offered his condolences to his partner, Eric Pearce, and to his family and many friends.

Minister Deenihan commented:

"It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of Patrick Scott. His was an extraordinary talent, and his work has been a guiding light in the Irish art world for many decades. Through his painting, and also his involvement in architecture and design, Patrick's legacy is immense, and his loss will be keenly felt by us all. His work will be long cherished by all those - in Ireland and internationally - who appreciate great art. Patrick "Gold leafed" our lives through many decades and we are all the better for it. I would like to express my deepest sympathy to his partner Eric, and his circle of family and friends.”
