Tanaiste congratulates London 2012 Paralympics athletes

The Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore,

T.D., this evening said:

As the Paralympics draw to a close  tonight in London, I want to

congratulate all of the Irish athletes who have taken part in this hugely

successful  championships. I had the pleasure and the privilege to meet

members of the team during my visit to London last week. Their efforts and

results are truly inspiring.  The record medal haul at the London 2012

Paralympics is a genuine source of pride throughout the country.

I wish to congratulate the hosts and organisers of London 2012 on a job

well done. It is a wonderful accomplishment for the Irish team to have made

such an outstanding contribution to the championships and achieved such

excellent results.
