Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney T.D. to meet with Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ine Eriksen Søreide who is on a visit to Ireland.

Speaking ahead of the visit the Tánaiste said:

I am delighted to welcome Minister Eriksen Søreide to Ireland. I am grateful to her for taking the time to visit Dublin and the border region. This visit is part of Ireland’s continued programme of diplomatic outreach to help increase understanding of how Brexit will uniquely effect people across this island.

The complex constitutional arrangements in Northern Ireland, the experiences of border communities in the past, and the interwoven nature of relationships on the island can be best understood by a visit to the area.

As a valued friend and partner, I also welcome the opportunity to discuss with Minister Eriksen Søreide how to further enhance Irish-Norwegian cooperation.

After hosting the Norwegian Foreign Minister this evening, the Tánaiste will continue his series of visits to European capital cities. He will visit Prague, Czech Republic (Tuesday). Paris, France (Wednesday). Helsinki, Finland (Thursday & Friday) and Warsaw, Poland (Sunday). The purpose of the visits is to discuss Brexit and the EU’s other priorities.
