Tánaiste announces the 2017 Victims of Crime Office funding scheme 24 October 2016

The Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality, Ms Frances Fitzgerald T.D., today announced the 2017 Victims of Crime Office funding scheme for organisations working with victims of crime.

Announcing the Scheme, the Tánaiste said:

"I am delighted to announce the funding application scheme for 2017 for organisations helping victims of crime. The work that these organisations do across the country helps to reduce the trauma experienced by victims of crime and help them to move on with their lives and I am proud to support their invaluable efforts.”

The Tánaiste also advised that an additional €250,000 in funding is being made available in 2017 over and above the 2016 allocation bringing the total funding available in 2017 to €1.712M.

She said "This funding increase will assist community and voluntary organisations in meeting the additional demands for support services, such as the provision of information on the rights of victims and court accompaniment, arising from the implementation of the provisions of the EU Victims Directive.”
