The Gathering - an Exhibition of works by Kerry Artists opens in Copper House Gallery Dublin

Thursday 12th September, 2013 - Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht will officially open “The Gathering - an Exhibition by Kerry Artists” at Copper House Gallery, St. Kevin's Cottages, Synge Street, Dublin 8 at 6.00 pm this evening.

The exhibition features works by 54 Kerry based artists (chosen from over 80 pieces submitted) based on the theme of the Gathering and our Diaspora. The content of the exhibition explores the concept of the Gathering, and demonstrates the variety of interpretation and imagination that exists. This exhibition shows many different palettes, subject matter and styles of work.

Speaking in advance of the opening, Minister Deenihan said " As a Government Minister and a very proud Kerryman, I was delighted to partner with Kerry County Council on this project. The exhibition gives an opportunity to see the sheer level of high skill in terms of painters in the county. This exhibition gives testament to the inherent attractiveness of Kerry as the landscape, the culture and perhaps most importantly our people provide inspiration to so many. The exhibition just shows how much art and artists are part of the fabric of the county, much like sport"

"This exhibition shows many different palettes, subject matters and styles of work, that requires us, the audience, to take time to view and reflect. This fine exhibition will be of particular interest to a wide range of people and especially for Kerry people located in Dublin and surrounding counties" Minister Deenihan concluded.
