A recruitment campaign for 72 Irish language translator posts in the Institutions of the European Union in Brussels and Luxembourg has been launched.

The employment opportunities were announced at an event in the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin yesterday evening. In attendance at the event were the Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, Joe McHugh T.D., Mr. Christos Ellinides, Deputy Director-General, Directorate General for Translation at the European Commission, and Ms. Sarah Rooney, from the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO). Also attending the launch were the television presenter, Caitlín Nic Aoidh, from TG4, and the actor, Colm Mac Gearailt, from TV Soap Ros na Rún.

Speaking at the event, Minister of State McHugh said:
