The National Emergency Coordination Group (NECG) will meet again today at 2pm and a media notice regarding the possibility of media briefing afterwards will issue later today.

ESB Update:
In excess of 70% of those who lost power have had power restored. (266,000 homes and businesses)
119,000 remain without power and work continues on restoring supply.
ESB Networks has deployed 2,500 staff in the recovery effort, and in addition 1,000 contractors have been engaged. Additional resources from Northern Ireland, Great Britain and France are also scheduled to provide support from today.

Water Update:
People with no water supply is down to 58,000 from a peak of 109,000. Irish Water is working with the ESB to both restore supply and reduce risk.
Those at risk 26,000 down from 50,000 last night. Almost half of the 26,000 is on one scheme in New Ross; a generator is now on site and will be operational shortly.

Local Authorities
Over 3,000 local authority staff, across many disciplines including fire services, roads staff, engineers and health and safety officers, are on the ground across the country assisting in the clean-up and recovery efforts. Council crews remain on the ground ensuring business continuity and access for the public.
Other than at obstructions with specific problems – trees coupled with fallen ESB cables - the main road network has been fully cleared by local authorities, including local roads.

Defence Forces
One 10,000 Litre water tanker has been deployed to Galmoy in support of Kilkenny Co Co.

2 EC135 Helicopters have been sent to support ESB networks on aerial recce of powerlines in North East and South West.

2 Chainsaw teams have been deployed to the Leefields area, Cork City conducting route/road clearance.
