Update on Travel Advice to Egypt from Minister Flanagan

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Charlie Flanagan T.D., has provided an update on travel advice to Egypt.

He stated:

"The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has provided advice to a very small number of citizens who have made contact with our Consular Assistance Unit in Dublin or the Embassy of Ireland in Cairo seeking information. There are currently no Irish tour operators with package holiday groups in Sharm El Sheikh at this time.

"Irish citizens in Egypt and those intending to travel to Egypt are advised to register on the Department’s website and check the Department’s travel advice for updated information.

"I encourage any Irish citizens in Egypt who are concerned to contact the Embassy of Ireland in Cairo at + 202 27358264

"People in Ireland who are concerned about the situation may contact the Department of Foreign Affairs on 01-408 2000.

"We continue to monitor the situation in Egypt through our Embassy in Cairo and are in close contact with our EU colleagues. We will continue to review and update travel advice as appropriate."
