USA Olympic Synchronised Swimming team arrives at the National Aquatic Centre for pre- Olympic training

The USA Synchronised Swimming squad will arrive in Dublin on Monday April 9

th

for a 6 day training camp.

The squad consisting of 24 swimmers and officials will be based at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin for a total of 3 pre-London Olympic Games training camps between now and August.

This visit follows closely after the highly successful training camp by the Korean swimming Federation.

The Americans selected the National Aquatic Centre for its world-class facilities. The team management were also impressed by the warmth of the Irish welcome; ease of access to London and the high standard of accommodation available. They will stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Blanchardstown for the duration of their camp.

Minister of State for Tourism & Sport Michael Ring said it’s another good outcome for the London 2012 co-ordinating Committee, of which he is Chairman.

“I’m very much looking forward to this visit, which is yet another good result of the Committee. Once again, it shows that world-class facilities like the NAC can attract international competitors to Ireland. We can really be proud of having a facility like the NAC.”

The America squad have worked closely with the National Aquatic Centre to be as accessible as possible to the Irish public on this their inaugural visit. During their time in Dublin they will visit Temple Street Hospital and host a Workshop for the NAC Synchronised Swimming Girls Academy.
