Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue, today received a Progress Report from the Chair of the Food Vision Beef and Sheep Group, Professor Thia Hennessy. The Minister thanked the Chair and the group for their work thus far.

The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Michael McGrath TD today announced that the Government has approved the drafting of a new Statute Law Revision Bill to simplify and improve accessibility of legislation in Ireland and has reaffirmed its commitment to a programme of modernising the statute book.

The Minister for Defence and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Simon Coveney, TD announced today that he has secured an interim arrangement which will allow for the continuance in service of Sergeants in the Permanent Defence Force who were due to be retired on age grounds at the end of this year, to allow those Sergeants serve beyond their current service limits.

The Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe TD, and the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien TD, have today announced the publication of Draft Residential Zoned Land Tax Maps by local authorities as part of the implementation of the Residential Zoned Land Tax (RZLT).

The Department of Education can confirm that as of 1 November, 12,544 Ukrainian pupils have been enrolled in schools across Ireland. Out of that figure, 7,948 of these pupils have been accommodated in primary schools while 4,596 pupils have enrolled in post-primary schools.

Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne T.D., will attend a series of UN-related meetings on 2 and 3 November. Minister Byrne will participate in a UN Security Council High Level Open Debate on 3 November, which will be chaired by Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Shirley Botchway.

The Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People Mary Butler TD has welcomed the commencement of the Part 9 of the Regulation of Providers of Building Works and Building Control (Amendment) Bill 2022, which will increase the amount of rental income that nursing home residents can retain under the Fair Deal from 20% to 60%.

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Mr Charlie McConalogue TD, has announced he is introducing regulations under the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 requiring flock keepers to confine all poultry and captive birds in their possession or under their control in a secure building to which wild birds, or other animals do not have access.
