Children's minister pays tribute to Christine Buckley

Minister Fitzgerald hails "a courageous and consistent campaigner for child protection and children's rights”.

Children & Youth Affairs Minister Frances Fitzgerald has paid tribute to Christine Buckley who today passed away following a long illness.

Minister Fitzgerald stated:

Christine Buckley was a courageous and consistent campaigner for child protection and children's rights.

As a survivor of institutional abuse, Christine led the charge to lift the veil on Ireland's dark past and shameful legacy of child abuse.

Minister Fitzgerald expressed her condolences to the family and friends of Christine, and to the staff and supporters of the Aislinn Centre which Christine established and which provide supports to survivors of institutional abuse and their families.
