Minister Zappone publishes monthly update on issues relating to Mother and Baby Homes

Katherine Zappone TD, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs has today (7
July 2017) published her Departments first monthly update on issues
relating to Mother and Baby Homes.

The Minister has introduced this new approach to communication to ensure
former residents, their families and supporters have access to information
on the matters of concern to them on a regular basis.

The monthly updates will provide information on the measures being
progressed across Government to respond to the issues which have emerged so
far from the work of the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby
Homes.

The independent Commission on Investigation continues to progress its
statutory investigation and it will continue to directly communicate with
relevant persons and the wider public in its own right.

These updates will be published in the Mother and Baby Homes section of my
Department’s website on the first Friday of every month.

Today also sees the publication of the first stage document from the Expert
Group to provide Technical Assistance in relation the site of the former
Mother and Baby Home in Tuam, Co. Galway.
