Four new Board members to join the National Museum of Ireland

The Minister for of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin T.D. has today announced the following four new appointments to the board of the National Museum of Ireland:

 

  • Ms. Marianne Doyle
  • Dr. Ciaran Byrne
  • Ms. Iseult Byrne
  • Ms. Beatrice Kelly

 

The four appointees will each serve a five-year term. 

 

Commenting on the appointments, Minister Martin said:

 

“I wish to congratulate all four appointees and wish them the very best during their terms.  I am delighted to announce the appointments of such high calibre candidates and am very grateful to them for taking on these very important roles and offering their skills and expertise to the National Museum of Ireland.”

 

The appointments follow a public call for applications on www.stateboards.ie and an assessment process.

Ms. Marianne Doyle is a Senior Strategic Transformation Manager with An Garda Síochána. This work involves leading projects, national change communications, and engaging across the organisation on key strategic initiatives. With a background in Marketing, Communications, and Education, she worked in international marketing for over a decade, predominantly in the higher education sector in North America, China, Russia, and the EU.

 

Dr. Ciaran Byrne is the Director of National Retrofit within the Sustainability Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) where he leads on the National Domestic Retrofit Programme which is a key part of the Government’s Plan to achieve a 51% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030.

 

Ms. Iseult Byrne is CEO of Dublin City Council Culture Company (CLg) which was created in March 2018 to create and deliver cultural initiatives. She has over 30 years of experience in the development and implementation of cultural projects. She has led and motivated multiple cultural, heritage and cross-sectoral teams to deliver ambitious cultural projects, run heritage sites and create an environment for cultural participation and exploration.

 

Ms. Beatrice Kelly has been Head of Policy and Research at the Heritage Council since 2008. Her 30 years of experience crosses the spectrum, of cultural and natural heritage, public sector and community development in Ireland and Europe.  Her international experience includes being Irish Representative to the European Commission’s Expert Working Group on Cultural Heritage (2019-present); National Co-ordinator for Ireland, European Year of Culture Heritage 2018; Rapporteur for the expert panel for European Heritage Label (2013-2020); expert evaluator for Horizon Europe 2021.
